RADIAL KERATOTOMY

The surgery was introduced by Russians. In this radial cuts are made on the cornea which flattens the cornea on healing, reducing the myopia. The surgery is basically a cosmetic surgery. Limitation Good for myopia upto 6 dioptres.

Risks and complications

	Glare on looking at light source.
	Under or over correction.
	Fluctuation in vision lasts for few months.
	Rupture of cornea: The scars get healed but make the cornea weak and the cornea perforates easily after injury. So must be avoided in persons involved in sports like boxing & Security personals etc.
